In Synetic Theater’s adaptation of Washington Irving’s ghostly tale, Sleepy Hollow, the Horseman’s noble steed will be a definite character on its own-not just a vehicle, but an extension of the Horseman himself. It will be operated by three-four people (think Equus or War Horse, but better!), who will each have a body part, and they’ll move in sync with one another to create this character. This is the first time Synetic’s Founding Artistic Director Paata Tsikurishvili has used puppetry to this extent, and the first time the Horse in Sleepy Hollow has been shown this way, as an independent character.
