IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
Light in the Darkness’ upcoming run at Synetic Theater has been canceled due to visa delays for the artists of Tantehorse Theater Company from Prague. The performances were scheduled to take place from March 8 through March 26 at Synetic Theater in Crystal City. The theater will have no alternative performances for those dates. Unfortunately, the show cannot be re-scheduled in the nearest future, because of the upcoming performances of Synetic’s The Taming of the Shrew starting on March 31 and other engagements Tantehorse artists have in Europe.
Synetic Theater went through extraordinary measures to try to bring Tantehorse Theatre Company to Washington DC, but the delay with the visas for the four out of six members of Light in the Darkness team rendered the tour impossible. Synetic hopes to bring the show back to D.C. in the future, but no dates have been set at this time.

Acclaimed actress Miřenka Čechová, and her company Tantehorse from the Czech Republic will mount Light in the Darkness, piece combining On the Dark Road: The Death of Marquis de Sade and Light in the Darkness: Dante – that fuses the disciplines of physical theater and modern dance.
The first part, On the Dark Road, is composed of dreams and fantasies and invites the audience to a fictional picture gallery of sins in which various images of death appear and disappear. One fantastic image emerges and develops into another, demanding the viewer’s individual imagination and experience. Light in the Darkness combines surreal and decadent poetry with elements of physical theater and modern dance. Hell is not in others: hell exists within us – just as we contain within us the promise of heaven.
